How Hot is the Sun?

How hot is the Sun compared to the Earth?

The Sun is incredibly hot compared to the Earth. The surface temperature of the Sun is approximately 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit (5,500 degrees Celsius).

The Sun's Intense Heat

The Sun is the closest star to Earth, and it emits a tremendous amount of heat and light. Its core temperature is around 27 million degrees Fahrenheit (15 million degrees Celsius), where nuclear fusion reactions take place. This immense heat radiates outwards, heating up the Sun's surface and creating the high temperatures that we feel here on Earth.

By comparison, the average temperature on Earth is around 59 degrees Fahrenheit (15 degrees Celsius). This stark difference in temperature between the Sun and Earth is due to the Sun's massive size and energy output.

Despite the incredible heat of the Sun, life on Earth is sustained thanks to the perfect distance between our planet and the Sun, allowing for the right balance of warmth and light for life to thrive.
