Rescuing Skippy: A Baby Kangaroo's Story

The Discovery of Skippy

In May 2009, workers at the Global Wildlife Center in Louisiana discovered Skippy, a young kangaroo, in a distressing situation. The joey, only about four months old, was left alone inside a kangaroo enclosure without his mother's care.

The Rescue Mission

Christina Cooper, one of the reserve's veterinary specialists, took immediate action upon finding Skippy. She waited nervously for 90 minutes, hoping that Skippy's mother would return to care for him. Unfortunately, the mother did not come back, leading to the decision to rescue the young kangaroo.

Skippy's Care

After being abandoned by his mother, Skippy was taken in by the staff at the Global Wildlife Center. The team provided round-the-clock care and attention to ensure the well-being of the baby kangaroo. Skippy received the necessary nourishment and medical treatment he needed to thrive.

Skippy's Recovery

Despite the challenging circumstances he faced early in life, Skippy showed resilience and made a remarkable recovery under the care of the wildlife center staff. With their dedication and expertise, Skippy was able to grow and develop into a healthy kangaroo.

Skippy's New Home

Thanks to the efforts of the Global Wildlife Center team, Skippy found a new home where he could thrive and be surrounded by other kangaroos. The center provided a safe and nurturing environment for Skippy to live and grow as he would in the wild.
