Calculating Moment of Inertia
For a solid cylindrical shaft, the moment of inertia can be calculated using the formula I = (π/4) * (r_outer^4 - r_inner^4), where r_outer and r_inner are the outer and inner radii of the shaft, respectively. Once the moment of inertia is determined, it can be used in the bending stress formula to calculate the maximum bending stress.
