The Role of RNA in Protein Synthesis

What is RNA?

What is RNA?

Ribonucleic acid (RNA) is a nucleic acid found in all living cells that is structurally similar to DNA.

RNA, with exception of DNA, is typically single-stranded. Unlike DNA, the backbone of an RNA molecule is made of interchanging phosphate groups and sugar ribose, rather than deoxyribose.

It is classified into three types: mRNA, rRNA, and tRNA. Each of these serves a specific purpose.

The function of mRNA is to serve as a template for protein, whereas the function of rRNA is to become a ribosome. Thus, C is the correct answer.
